This is the Airbus A320 that has become known to the world as U.S. Airways Flight 1549. It is seen here in the middle of the night, several hours after it was hoisted out of the Hudson River and placed on a barge. Soon it will be taken to an undisclosed location in New Jersey for an investigation.
You can see here that the right engine, initially thought to have detached from the plane, is in fact still affixed to the wing.
I jumped in a cab at 3:30 a.m. to get this photo, after seeing on the news that the plane was finally above water. The NYPD still wouldn't let me get as close as I would have liked . . .
