Budapest: Skoda Octavia Combi police car Hungary is one of the few countries in the world where the police has a completely different name: Rendörség (Guardians of order). In most countries it's something like police, polizei, polis, politie or politi.

"We serve and protect."
Unfortunately they are about to lose against the crime :( (thanks to the too liberal Hungarian Law which often gives more rights to wrongdoers than their victims). Due to the Hungarian economic crisis a police car is allowed to run only ~17km pro day! It's ridiculous, especially in the country-side!
It's hard to translate what does the word "Rendőrség" mean. "Order Guard" sounds better (like Border Guard).
They were called "Csendőrség" till the end of WW2. It means gendarmerie, literally "Silence Guard". It's a a talking name, isn't it?
