Not sure about the "too fast" comment. Certainly there is nothing about the speed of a meteor that prevents it from being captured - only the brightness matters. Another possibility is that this is a satellite trail. That conclusion could be drawn by noting that it doesn't seem to have a beginning or ending - just as satellites often "wink in" and then "wink out" as they pass through the Earth's shadow.
However after looking at the large version I see at least 3 trails very similar and my eyes detect a hint of tell-tale red blinking. Knowing that my recent Seattle flight flew directly over this area, the best money is on a "Plane" as the cause of the streak. Or UFOs. :-)

Also, I suspect stacked photos as all of the trails have a dash space long-dash appearance. Finally, looking at the length of the trail and doing some back of the brain calculations, it looks like the 241 second exposure was the short dash and the long dash was at least 6 times as long total exposures of over an hour or so.

Finally, it is obvious that the weather that got Harold this photo should have been rescheduled a week earlier (when the Night Photography class was conducted).

Excellent, work, regardless!

PS It looks like some of the star trails are reflected in the water. Cool.

Never have I got a long exposure with the north star - and never long enough to see such long arcs.

I know this boat well and I like your take on it. I can't really analyze it much because I only see this small version but it looks good. The streak could be a meteor even on this long of an exposure. But it is and same direction that the north-south air flights take. Regardless, I like it!
