so much to do... so little..zzzz

She's here! She's here! My niece was born last week and she is so sweet & cuddly! This is her at four days old. My sister was trying to wake her up to feed and this is how it went down: she woke up, opened her eyes, yawned, and fell back asleep.

Haha

rule of thirds... tornado style

rule of thirds... tornado style

Today Bryan and I were commenting on how great the weather was as we were leaving Walmart. I noted that it felt a lot like the calm before the storms we usually get in the spring.

We got home and this crazy cloud began to roll in. I was cooking dinner and looked out our balcony and saw the cloud (below). I yelled for Bryan to come look at it because it looked just like a funnel cloud. About 5 minutes later the sirens went off. Turns out I was right. I spent the next 30 minutes on the balcony with my camera. I've been waiting for this day my whole life. As I've mentioned before, one of my goals was to see a tornado before I die.... and preferably not RIGHT before I die.

So Yes! My first tornado! And please pardon the noise as I was so excited I didn't realize my ISO was at 1600.

(And thank goodness so far there have been no serious injuries reported.)

More exciting things to come... just not enough time right now!

Alyse & Bryan were troopers for this freezing shoot.
This was at the old train tracks on Morris Ave in downtown Birmingham. And luckily they covered up where the graffiti actually says, “Jesus Loves Me ….Not You!”
yikes!

she softened gradually, melting in the light of the sun, all the while thinking, O, this is what it's like to be a planet & suddenly it was over & the universe expanded by one. - The Story People

I normally don't post much of my commissioned work here. I don't know why. I supposed I just feel like Flickr is more of a personal place for me. But this shoot was personal. This is my gorgeous sister at 33 & ½ weeks. My baby niece, Kate, should be here in a month! I'm so excited!

Here's to a brand new year that I PRAY is better than 2009 and to hoping this maternal glow thing is hereditary! ;-)

Happy New Year Folks!
