I love trees because they seem more resigned to the way they have to live than other things do.
A solitary Silver Birch (Betula pendula) grows in the moorland surroundings of Lawrence Field in the National Trust's Longshaw Estate. Birch will grow in even the most exposed locations and the poorest of soils thriving where other trees find it difficult to become established. This lovely tree just above Hatherage, is begging for a nice sky at sunrise or sunset. I've been here a few times now waiting for that sky. The best I've had so far was last Monday evening, when I took this image on a Canon 50D, EF-s 15-85mm and G1 filter. Still waiting, but life go's on.
