Elements of a Magazine Cover

The banner, or nameplate. Often incorrectly referred to as the masthead [which is the listing inside the magazine of the staff, contact info, etc.]

Magazines sold on the newsstand will have a UPC code.
Many magazines have a tagline, to explain a little more about what's inside.
