@gwilmore: I like to hear that song. And you're right, it's the most recently one. You know my English is awesome!

@TaMiMi Q8: mmm, I don't know what is my favorite color. err, well.. I think i like 'em all!

@khznd: "binoch tuye aabi"?!?! What does this mean?

@koko loco: It won't crush. When Somayeh took rest there, just after this shot, mr. Rahbar (HORIZON) jumped up the car to take a shot from upper angel, and of course it didn't crushed ;)

@Sepiedeh B: Check the map for this shot, and explore other photographs from the same location by my friends. They have lots of photos from Choghakhor pond in their photo streams. Also you can search tags for "Choghakhor" or other spells of it.

Hi Hamed,
That's a nice picture! My sister used to live in Tehran, She sent me many pics of cars like yours as I am a Buick fan! Can you give me more details on them? I know they look like 1979 Skylarks and that they were produced much later than here in North America. Are there any model badges on them such as "Buick Iran" ?

If you have any additional information on these cars (and other American cars that were produced in Iran) I'd be really interested to know more about them!
You can email me at phil.racicot@gmail.com
Thanks

Hamed Saber  Pro User  says:

@Phil R: I'm a super fan of classic cars, specially American muscle cars. And yes, we have lots of them in Iran. The Buick you see, has a national name which is "Buick Iran" and is a retouched version of Skylark 1979/1980 (Sedan model, we didn't produce coupe models).
There were a car production company name "GeneralMotors Iran", which produced four cars for about 4 years:
Buick Iran
Chevrolet Iran (it's Chevrolet Royal, which originally is not a chevrolet!)
Cadillac Iran (Cadillac Seville 1980)
Chevrolet Nova 1978

The Buick Iran has a 350ci/170hp engine, in 5 different tips, from b1 to b5, with manual or automatic transmission, different furniture and luxuries.
The Chevrolet nova has 6 tips. And Cadillac Iran and Chevrolet Iran has each one tip.

Now, I have a black Chevrolet Caprice Classic LS 1987, in addition to the Buick you see in this photo.

Any additional information?

Hi Hamed, thanks for the information, I'd like to see pics of the details which differenciates these and the 1979 Skylark (like bages for example).

Also, were there some with Buick engines like the 3.8 V6 (231 ci) or Buick 5,7 V8 (350 ci) (these engines have their distributor located in the front while those from other GM divisions had their distributors located at the rear).

Here, GM mixed the engines from it's various divisions in the late seventies so there were Oldsmobile, Chevrolet and Pontiac engines also available in Buicks like yours. The last year for the Buick 350 was 1980.

Hamed Saber  Pro User  says:

@Phil R: I have some photos from the badge, but it's written in Persian (Farsi) and I should search for them on my old CDs.

As I mentioned, my own Buick has a 350ci engine. But I can't remember where the distributor located, I think it's at the rear. And I didn't see any 231 on Skylark, while I saw those engines on Buick Century models.

Once, I searched for the VIN of my Buick on handbooks, and found lots of information about it, but I can't remember them now ;)

Thanks for the information Hamed,

Here, there were quite a few 1975-79 Skylarks with the 231 V6. Some had the Buick 350 V8 but many didn't.

The Century model was sold in Iran too?

If you find the pics of the emblems, please email them to me!
