Bummer he cropped the photo. I think its much better framed here, though I am sure he like just the "him" aspect of his crop vs. the other guy on the railing. BTW what was the "point" of the other guy? (Not that I'd say "remove him", just wondering the thought process)

I couldn't resist!

Here goes with another late comeback just for you Señor Griffith. I do slack in the communications department but do my best to never ever drop the ball completely. The thought process was thus: The sunbathing fellow was there, agreed to be in the photo and I thought added a somewhat humorous if not ironic contrast to the 'establishmentness' and 'know-it-allness' of the staid economist who is somewhat of a regional celebrity. Alas, the compo didn't make the cut though I felt confident that If they didn't like it they could shop/crop the sunbathing gent out which indeed they did. Ya win some ya lose some. We're I to do the shot again I'd compose it the same way though hit the sunbather with a light similar to the one hitting Bill.
Thank you friend.

I shoot mainly with NIkon slr bodies and fixed Nikon lenses. Lights are sometimes by Nikon strobes, but mainly either by Speedotron, ProPhoto(which I rent 'cause that shit's speeendy!) or Hensel. Yeah I strip the exiff data-or rather choose not to post it in flickr-because good photos are by photographers not cameras! Were Nikon to compensate me I might reconsider though. ;-)
That 900 is a niiiiice flash I read. If you leave it on your camera body I suggest you dial the power down a lot of the time and get a remote firing devise where you can place the flash where you want it and fire it remotely.

I have yet to see a photographer take a photo without a camera though :) At least outside my minds eye. Pocket Wizards are on my list..... Too much gear man.

I have: photograms. ;-)
The work of my favorite photogrammer, Adam Fuss, comes to mind...gear does get to be a hassle after a while. Man Ray was no slouch either.
