Northampton State Hospital

Northampton State Hospital by Kirkbride.
The first floor of this building was completely boarded up. The light that came though had some odd coloring which was kind of interesting to look at. Pretty too.

I once jokingly referred to this shot as "The Devil's Piano". It was a horrible joke (most of mine are) that stuck in my head and now I can't see this photo without thinking of that title.

The weirdest thing in this photo is probably that the light in the windows seems to be bright in a way but the room itself is very dark. And the colors - was the glass that colored?....very very weird - but I like the weirdness in this picture - good shot ;)

Thank you. The windows are covered with boards that have been painted red. That mixed with the color of some vegetation that was growing over, under and around the boards gives it that coloring. The walls were painted blue which adds yet another hue into the mix.
