Boomender Export von Holz für allem für Bauten in Holland führte im 18. und 19.Jhd dazu, dass der Schwarzwald weitersgehend mit reinem Fichtenbestand wieder aufgeforstet wurde. Scheint, als ob so langsam wieder der Mischwald Einzug im Scharzwald hält.

Booming exports of wood, especially to all buildings in Holland, during the 18th and 19th century led to vast areas in the Black Forest reforested with pure spruce.. Seems as slowly a mix forest is coming back to the black forest.

The floers of the angel

Der Engel steht auf dem alten Friedhof in Freiburg, er gehört zu dem Grab einer am 20. Dezember 1858 verstorbenen Frau, Geburtstag und Alter unbekannt.
The angel can be found at the old cemetery of Freiburg, he is part of the grave of a woman who died December 20th 1858, birthday and age unknown.

The mysterious factory at peacock island

An dieser Stelle stand wohl einmal die Fabrik des Alchimisten und Glasmachers Johannes Kunckel (* um 1630, gestorben 20. März 1703). Der große Kurfürst (Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg, 16.02.1620 - 9.5.1688) gab ihm 1685 die Insel zum Geschenk. Kunckel baute hier ein Versuchslaboratorium, das entsetzlich gestunken und dichten schwarzen Rauch produziert haben soll. Das Betreten der Insel war verboten. Das Laboratorium brannte 1789 nieder und 1692 ging Kunckel nach Schweden, auch weil er mit dem Nachfolger des Kurfürsten nicht zurecht kam.

Auf den üblichen Karten der Pfaueninsel ist dieses Gebäude höchstens als namenloses Gebäude zu finden. Kunckel soll übrigens keine Ruhe gefunden haben und weiterhin auf der Insel spuken.

At this point, there was probably once the factory of the alchemist and glassmaker John Kunckel (born around 1630, died March 20th 1703). The Frederick William, Elector of Brandenburg gave him 1685 the island as a gift. Kunckel did build an experimental laboratory here,that produced awful stench and thick black smoke. Trespassing on the island was forbidden. The laboratory burned down in 1689 and in 1692 Kunckel went to Sweden, also because he did not cope wll with the successor of Frederick William.

On a standard map of Peacock Island, this building is if it is there at all only a nameless building. It is said that Kunkel is still haunting the island.
