I've been with my fiancee for a little shy of five years now and only just realized that though she has brown skin like mine, her being from Ethiopia/Kenya elevates our relationship to the status of "Intercultural"... who cares about interracial...
She's a third culture kid, which means she grew up in Kenya with Ethiopian values and traditions instilled by her parents, while going to both British and American schools, while living in a Kenyan society......wow! Then moves to the States for opportunity and education... hehehe.
Anyway, we're so often amazed by how culture seems not able to travel across water... through boundaries... further what should a boundary mean...? ...or what should be it's purpose?
far too deep for flickr, perhaps? Anyway, here's a shot that concluded a recent expedition to Point Reyes in California that makes my case....

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Yellow line - gul midtstripe, and we'd love to have your photo added to the group.
The yellow line down the road is one symbol that ties Norway closer to the US, than to the rest of Europe.

this is beautiful.. another way i thought of this photo was like the song californication by the red hot chili peppers; california is basically the final frontier. we have come so far... yet destruction (imo) is inevitable. "A civilization which leaves so large a number of its participants unsatisfied and drives them into revolt neither has nor deserves the prospect of a lasting existence." -sigmund freud. Culture has come so far... but still cannot swim. like your love.. it must come to an end. your photo and words have touched me.

Dear H2Orange,
I work for Oxford University Press, a non-profit publisher, and am currently procuring images for a manuscript. I was wondering if you would allow us to have rights to publish this photograph for the book?
