That's actually exactly why I took the picture.... over the past few months, as he got more frail and quiet (as opposed to the firebrand he used to be) it seemed like a role reversal took place. She definitely took on a more protective attitude and with the arm around him like that I had to take it. It just struck me.

Part of me really regrets not taking my camera to the funeral today. There were so many moments I would have loved to have captured. They were beautiful, in such a sad, heart-aching way. At the same time it was definitely not an event I could just "check out" of and lurk in the background the way I normally do when I've got the camera.

It's still hard to believe he's gone.
