Blowing Bubbles

Blowing Bubbles by Gwytherinn.
Virginia is a naturalist who leads hikes at many of the Long Island state parks. This was her salt marsh hike at Caumsett and it was amazing. Her knowledge of the nature of the area is staggering! She picked up this crab to show us the anatomy, and that it was blowing bubbles. If I remember correctly it means they're close to death when they do that.

I debated converting it to black and white, but I really love the color here.

Poor wee crabbie - bubbling away, and no ER to rush it off to.

I am sometimes peeved that I do not live near an ocean - then I remember the skeeters that I encountered while visiting my sis in Florida. Regular northern fresh water skeeters are bad enough, thank you.

I love this shot! I rarely see crabs on our beach. They are way too fast for me!
