Viscount-Sebring-RR-CT-1978![]() My 3rd bicycle, after the Alcon and an Apollo: it's a Viscount Sebring with a 'leather hairnet' hanging on the brake extension lever.
The Alcon taught me about fixed vs freewheeling and basic stuff like puncture repairs and falling off. The Apollo introduced me to multiple (read 5x2) gears and brakes that didn't work in the wet; and the Viscount brought me into 'semi-lightweight' territory, just on the cusp of being a 'real' race bike. Indeed if I got rid of that bell and those silly 'hands-on-bars' brake extensions... and lowered the bars a tad! BTW, I blog about my images, old and new, digital and analog here. I also maintain specific blogs about airliner images of the 70s and 80s, Sydney, Australia and its history, Alfa Romeo Tipo 116 GTVs and balancing mass consumption with sustainability. Oh, and bicycle racing. Do I sound confused, or suffering from severe cognitive dissonance? No, I'm just in denial. And yes, that (again) is the fence at Sydney Airport.
