A slab type grove planting made to represent a woodland scene most probably representing a path on the way to a Japanese temple. This grove presents some particularly good examples of jin (a dead branch or stub of a dead branch that has no bark on it) and shari (the dead area exhibited on the trunk). From the Collection of the National Bonsai and Penjing Mueseum at The United States National Arboretum.

Thanks to Kyle House for contributing information on the grove.
