mr.soap

mr.soap

Nonsense of mine from work: cue center frame: MR SOAP!! Mr Soap is a symbol of hope: High-end remodeling is nothing but a nonstop trial of problemsolving, headaches, and endurance. And we manage to amuse ourselves with little songs in our heads, jokes, smartassery, whatever...and the occasional little staked-out victories. We managed to remove, in one piece, a whole shower wall of tile (about 300 dangerous, awkward lbs) while not disturbing this bar of soap forlorn by the owners months earlier.
Huzzah!! Long Live MrSoap!!

John McQuilkin

John McQuilkin

A photo from Grandma's side of the family - Great-great Uncle John McQuilkin. Know nothing about him except that he served in the 7th Cavalry in the 1860s, putting down the Dakotas Sioux Rebellion of 1863: In other words, he was a murderer or an accomplice under color of "authority" of the military. Don't know his personal story, but I do know that he felt good enough about it all to take a souvenir: a Lakotan, beaded and carved, Remington lever-action rifle that hung over my great aunt's mantlepiece for years

Jimmy

Jimmy

The mighty hunter in the de rigeur rural pose. My friend, Rich, says he is holding a $10,000 gun from the Spanish American War. He probably shot squirrels, coyotes and a occasional mountain lion on the ranch with it (In the 40s and 50s there were bounties on wildlife that "interfered" with ranching.) I 'm pretty sure I played with it next door at their house when I was about 4 or 5.
