Crated Bacon

Crated Bacon by RodBegbie.
Bacon suffered a back injury this week -- A slipped disc or a pinched nerve, reckons the vet. Poor little bugger has the be kept in his crate (except for "short leashed walks") for two weeks.

Since he's caged and being fed steroids, Keith suggested we should rename him "Veal".

Hope its not a fibrocartilaginous embolism which is what we reckon Flight had.

We're hoping it's just a couple of weeks in the crate, and he'll be fine. I'm just glad we had the pet insurance, which should take the $1000 vet bill down to a slightly more manageable $300.

The same thing happened to my Bassett about 4 years ago. One day he's fine, the next he is immobile.

Some steroids and about 10 days bed rest and he was just fine, though we wouldn't let him climb steps for a few weeks longer.

Thanks for the reassurance. He's shown signs of feeling better (and has accepted his cratebound fate!), so hopefully this will all be over with within a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, he's taken to trying to hide the rawhide-bone we gave him. In his crate. Lots of pawing up the mat, and pushing his blanket over it with his nose, accompanied by giggling as Joy & I watch.
