My greatgrandfather en -mother and my grandfather with sisters, The Netherlands by Grietje.
The photo is nearly hundred years old. My great-grandfather wrote a diary from about 1898 till he died. About the farm on the isle of Dordrecht. My grandfather also wrote a diary about the famr, from the 30's till the 60's.

Because the photo is so old (I think it is in the 10's) one would think nobody knows anymore about their personalities, but my father www.flickr.com/people/jaap
has known them. And both males in the photo kept a diary for decades. So there is a lot known about them.

No, it was not made on a special church day. The photo was made in their own home. The headdress of my greatgrandmother is 'klederdracht' (local costume)

I passed through Vollendam (spelling) years ago. My wife's parents are Dutch. In Vollendam there is a place there where tourists could dress up in traditional Dutch dress and go outside to have their photographs taken agains the canals and molens and things. More buses would arrive with more tourists who would see the dressed up tourists and think they were locals and take more photographs. It was a funny sight, layers of make believe.
