If you watched very, very carefully, you could see frogs' heads poking out in the gaps between the algae. They were very skittish, though, and could apparently tell when someone wanted them to hold still. I managed to sneak up on this one, though.

Carin said that this thick mat of green isn't usual, and is in fact an algal bloom.
