three #2 philips bits

three #2 philips bits by grendelkhan.
The screwdriver bits in my toolbox come in little plastic holders that keep them organized. Because #2 Philips is the most popular type of screw, it comes with a whole bunch of #2 Philips bits.

It's incredible just how grimy things get--it's quite a mercy that we don't notice it with the naked eye.

Taken with a Nikon-mount Vivitar 80-200/4.5 macro, using a set of Nikon extension tubes.

fun stilleben. great details although just a tiny tiny bit out of focus. yes they are kind of gritty, aren´t they? good even backdrop.

Cool idea. Are these magnetic tipped? That could be cool to try another photo with those with all of the little metal shavings on them.

I can't really put my finger on it. I don't not like it nor do I like it completely. May be if the background is more colorful it might add a little more to the picture.

johan__: I'm not sure if it's focus or camera shake; stacking the optical effects of extension tubes, the macro setting on the lens and the mirror vibration might have that same effect. Of course, if Canon allowed its cameras to perform focus confirmation on manual-focus lenses, it'd be a great help too, and I wouldn't have to wonder like this.

SOUTHEN: No, they don't have any magnetic mojo to them; they're just plain metal. If they were magnetic, though, it'd be an impossible pain to get the shavings off of the bits once I was done.

Thanks to everyone so far--I like the feedback.

Cool macro. I like the strength that they seem to convey.

screw! screw! screw!

I really like how the differences in shades makes the 3 bits look so different.

Seems like the lens makes it look a bit out of focus - the outer sides of bits 1 and 3 suffers from CA, in my eyes.

Ok, here is my thought...Excellent macro with shading/shadows. The subject doesn't paticularly interst me, however, I do see this being a billboard or poster in a part store. Well done and captured. Score 10/13 (from the Judgement Day
group)

An intersting view of the simple screwdriver. I never expect myself to take a second look at a screwdriver, but I actually went back and look at it in your largest size.

Technically, another macro shot, with good details. Plain and simple composition.

Perhaps a more extreme background would make the screw driver bits stand out more.

All in all... Score 8/13 (from the Judgement Day group)
