I was invited to the 'Our Lives of Deckadence' exhibition in Durban at Gallery 415. The exhibition was (obviously) themed around skating culture with the theme of 'Wisdom through Wounds'. My thinking naturally lead me to Greek mythology (I mean, really, what else could you think of?) and the Hydra which attains two heads for every one lost. Hence it literally gains wisdom through its wounds.

This is a homage of sorts to old men in general. When I started it a few days ago, I was thinking of my grandpa who died before I turned two. Legend has it he was a burly, Scottish man's man with hands the size of dinner plates.

And then the local wandering old man passed away on Sunday, and can now be with his wife who died many years ago. Here's to you Alec.

This is a little sneak peek of a painting my friend William asked me to do for him and his wife for their one year wedding anniversary. Congratulations guys!

I've been trying to work hard on my backgrounds, and this is another one where I tried a different, lineless style. I really enjoyed working on this piece.
