Adventures in self portraiture.
I used a vintage jumper-style dress pattern for the fabric part of the dress and made up the crocheted bodice. My almost-five-year-old son said, "I'd like it better if the straps were narrower," which I thought was an astute critique.
I thought that I wasn't going to want to wear it until I put the t-shirt under it. Now I think it will be in normal rotation.

I am so glad I got to see this in action today. As becktress says, it is a bit dirndlesque, which is a good thing.

Thanks everyone. :)
Becktress: It's an expression I have for myself if ever I were to wear something with thin straps -- god forbid.

I'm sitting here at 8pm and my dress is totally comfortable after a long day's wear. There's definitely something to be said about custom-fit clothing.

I love the colors, aqua and red, so bold and striking. The dress looks great on you. Your son has some fashion sense but wider straps are way more wearable and it looks just right with a tshirt underneathe. All the details are so well done.
