Unsure of what to with the Hellebore plants I had bought, this composition took a few minutes to create. The willow had been lying around the shop for a while and I just grabbed a few stems to add interest to plants in an odd assortment of vases, as I loved the colour combination of pale green hellebore flowers and brown willow.

A luxe arrangement for the small blue lounge: these Monkara orchids were budgeted for the main reception, but I decided to use other flowers there and fill this table with a sea or bright orange.

The vases used here have very narrow necks, which limits the variety of flowers we can use with them. Only thin and long stemmed flowers are suitable, especially as the water level drops so quickly when so much is displaced by thickness of the stem in a narrow space.

This makes the yellow Oncidium orchids ideal for this kind of arrangement. They last longer than Mimosa (which is available at this time of year) and make a delicate partner to the fine lines of pussy willow branches.

A large branch of magnolia frames this week's display. It was a difficult shape to work with (which is why it was quite cheap) but perfect for me. I supported it from the overhead chandelier to create a canopy over the Hellebores popping out of stacked terracotta pots. Peach tulips in old jars tone nicely with the natural materials I used for styling.

It's probably too early for the Magnolia to open, but I will leave it in place for a couple of weeks and hope for the best.
