Thank you Mitch. I am really pleased with the tonal quality of this one. Possibly aquatic, with a hint of reef but ultimately colours that Powell and Pressburger would have used. Bless 'em

      your words from yesterday:
"it will be twee enough to reduce a samurai to poetry"

not a twee petal in sight. no samurais here. i just see poetry.

Thanks Jo. As I said to Mitch above, I came over all Powell and Pressburger when I took this photograph. 1946 was a good year for British Cinema?

      Thank you Tom

Thank you J. The colour really seemed to work with this. A lot of the passages through the branches became confused in Black &

... besides, this was only ever conceived to be colour to fit with the above quote.

Thank you. I'm thinking of you. x

I had to do some research (see how seriously i take my flickr contacts!). This is it, right? "There was a nine-month wait for film stock and Technicolor cameras because they were being used by the US Army to make training films. The decision to film the scenes of the "other world" in black and white added to the complications. Where they merge from black and white to colour, they were filmed in Technicolor, but the colour was not fully developed, giving a pearly hue to the black and white shots."
      After all that, terrific shot.
