Romantics

Romantics

Final Major Project : Every person has a different view on the idea or act of being Romantic. This series of colour portraits explores the individualism involved with relationships and connections. I photographed people with treasured objects that they had kept and held on to from past/current relationships. The range of objects from jewellery, train tickets, letters and even eye patches expresses the uniqueness of the idea of Romance. I kept the lighting uniform in order to relate them to each other and captured a “school portrait” style of lighting to add to the topic of nostalgia.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia

Final Major Project : This series titled “Nostalgia” explores the individualism of Memory and Romanticism. The sequence of intimate black and white portraits expresses feelings of reminiscence and joy as my father re-tells child-hood stories. By documenting the narratives and presenting them as a photographic sequence, this piece is a personal portrayal of my father’s character and personality; it reveals his true feelings about the past. It was important to photograph someone I was close to in order to capture the feeling of intimacy and closeness. When exhibited they where present as 9 black and white photocopies .
