Red Hook Grain Terminal, Brooklyn |
New York Grain Terminal,
Red Hook, Brooklyn
2006
Popularly known as the Red Hook Grain
Terminal, this structure is one of the
last remaining industrial icons on the
Red Hook Waterfront. Towering over the
Red Hook Balfields, the grain terminal
has been abandoned for decades. Down
the street from the terminal once stood
the Revere Sugar Refinery and the Todd Shipyard, both of which were destroyed as Red
Hook has been developed by businesses
like Ikea.
Mercurialn and I organized a photo
expedition to this abandoned grain
terminal in 2007, accompanied by E-Liz
and F-trainer from Flickr and Jake
Dobkin from Gothamist and Blue Jake.
