Inside The Dry Dock

Todd Shipyard,
Beard Street,
Red Hook, Brooklyn
2005-2007

The Todd Shipyard was once located on Beard Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn. It was a privately owned shipyard which had warehouses dating back to the Civil War. The shipyard and its drydock were in great demand up until the day it was sold. The Todd Shipyard was destroyed to make way for an Ikea furniture store which opened in 2008.

For more information on what Beard Street in Red Hook was once like, please read this essay, which was exhibited by the Brooklyn Library in 2006.
