Old Tintype Photo

Old Tintype Photo by Go Sox 33.
I decided to upload an old photo that I have found due to a cool group I have just discovered.

According to my father, this is a picture of my great grandmother and great grandfather (all the way to the right.) What makes this a great find is that it is an official tintype photo. I love it! My great grandfather was born in 1882 and he is not more than 25 in this photo. Thought I'd share a rare find. : )

This is a tintype, not a daguerreotype. The dags are much older and have silvery, mirror-like surface. They always come enclosed in a case, behind glass, because exposure to air makes them tarnish..... Still how great to have a photo from way back in your family history. Be sure to pass the info along to the next generations.

Otisourcat - Ooooh! Thanks for the clarification. I'll change the title right now! I love old photos!!! And I love when Flickr members are kind and offer suggestions and help along the way. Thank you kindly!
I have LOTS of old shots that I scanned from my parents. They have been pretty good at letting me know who the majority of them are. There are still some that are unknown. Still cool to have.

I love looking at old family photos. I wish there were more of my own ancestors, but there are vey few. Btw, we use the same camera, and MY macro EF 100 is also my favorite lens....just need more practice for better pictures.....
