organic vegetable box

Slug
organic vegetable box by Princess Tat of Tinkle Shed.
Today i took delivery of an organic vegetable box.
Here is a representative selection of the contents.
Last week I went to Ludlow Food Festival and signed up for a delivery because the samples did taste far nicer than average vegetables.
And the man was .......
However I 'll see whether this will be financially possible as we eat stacks and stacks of fruit and veg and we live a stones throw from a market.
Anyway, i'll go and dismantle this artful arrangement and stuff them in the pantry and go to the cinema to see 'La Vie en Rose'. see you later.

Nice selection.

Is that perovskia on the bottom right? One of my favourite plants but can't seem to find it a happy place in our garden despite two attempts. Will persevere.

Yes, the taste really does seem to be better. Certainly organic milk should taste better given the variety of vegetation on an organic farm compared with that mono-species pseudo-grass the non-organic farms have these days! I guess the same logic would apply to vegetables?

Scooby..Is that what it is, perovskia ?All I know is that this is in the wrong place. It is blocking a path but I can't get at the roots. They have wheedled their way under a structure.

Are you a convert then focalplane ?The courgettes, which we ate this evening , were delicious. I look forward to the carrots and broccoli tomorrow.

The clue is in the title Miss Magnolia.
I've just bought a punnet of organic bilberries though and they are fabulous.Highly recommended.

A relatively recent convert I was very cynical of the organic labeling at supermarkets (still am) until I started to buy local produce. Here's a quick plug for Runnington Fruit Farm (PYO) near Wellington (the Somerset one)

I _think_ it's perovskia, or Russian Sage, but I can't see it quite clearly enough. The leaves look grey/green, which they should - do they smell a bit sagey?

Of course maybe it's something else...

Yup, I think it is Perovskia, see www.crocus.co.uk/search/pl/?ContentType=Plant _Card&Cl...

I love the intense violetty blue - almost metallic.

It's bloomin' squirrels that are the bane here paper. We have a nut tree but it is virtually stripped bare.
They had been missing for two days so we thought they had 'copped it' but no they are back and just as eager.

they have become my worst bane too. they cost us about $800 a two years back when they got into the attic, and were rolling ruts around, and we needed to have them captured and relocated. they new ones came and took up residence in the same tree this year, one of them is a rabbit digger. i put down landscapng fabric and mulch and he/she will dig a hole ever three inches in a 12X 5 foot bed, uprooting plants in the process. I have been gardening for almost 8 years and i have never see anything like this nasty little f$%#$@. it go so bad, i started throwing all my compost items out on the lawn hoping that if it didn't need to dig it would leave the beds along. no such luck.

Oh that is terrible.So frustrating.
I was watching ours dig holes in the lawn today and scatter soil from the containers as they buried their hazelnuts.
They are so ill mannered.
I wish I knew where they lived.
