Crater lake, Pinatubo volcano
Mt. Pinatubo erupted violently in June 1991 and caused widespread damage in the central plains of Luzon island in the Philippines. I witnessed this event first hand - from the ashfall that lasted several days to the mudflow during the rainy seasons.

After 17 years, the area around the volcano is a picturesque scene but the landscape that greeted us on the way to the crater brought back memories of destruction and misery.
