Sibling Rivalry

Sibling Rivalry

Greetings from Bend, OR!!!

Closely grouped volcanic peaks aptly named Three Sisters by early Methodist settlers compete for space in the Cascade Wilderness. The eldest sibling called “Faith”, long considered extinct, towers high with rock pinnacles and glaciers. The smallest middle sister named “Hope” consists of primarily basalt rock, having lost her original coned form by glaciations. “Charity”, the youngest- yet tallest of the trio, dutifully holds the highest ‘crater’ lake in Oregon.

Rapt in Awe

Rapt in Awe

Einstein said the most beautiful emotion we can experience is the mysterious, and when we can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, we are as good as dead. This means we need to pursue our dreams each day as we would climb a mountain…slowly, steadily, and enjoying each moment. There is a dream that will not sleep, so the time has come to go now in faith, with the wind.

We deeply value our community and friendships here in Mount Shasta, but professional pursuits call us north to Bend, OR. We will never say goodbye to a place that has given us so much so we will just say “see you later”.

Within the Quiet

Within the Quiet

An unique phenomenon occurs in the winter time on mountain lakes. Trapped air bubbles underneath ice produce vibrations resulting in an acoustic blend of ethereal resonances; a little like drumming and whale songs, echoing its impulses up towards the heavens.

Wishing you all the best during the holiday season!

Until next year...

Falling Angel

Falling Angel

This image was taken a few nights ago during the peak of the Geminid meteor shower on top of a frozen lake in Mount Shasta. I saw 50+ meteors during the first 3 hours, but many of them weren’t picked up by the camera due to the rising moon. The clouds moved into the area shortly after, but I feel lucky to have captured this single exposure of a meteor falling into the peaks above the lake. I was also surprised to see that meteors were coming more from Orion than Gemini.
