I'm HIT!
I don't think I could have intentionally lined up this shot if I had tried. There is no trickery on this one. That's not smoke, it's water spray from a fountain in an adjacent pond. I was tracking the bird's flight path in my lens, waiting for a clean background, when I saw this shot developing. I had just enough time to squeeze off one frame. I wish the background had been cleaner but at least the slant of the tree lines up with his wing and contrasts well with his body color. At any rate, I'll take it.
