Brown Pelicans

Brown Pelicans

Similar looking but not exactly the same. The bird on the right may be younger as it is lacking the dark brown on the neck which comes during the breeding season.
Bill color and eye colors are also different.

Royal Tern

Royal Tern

I enjoy seeing the different wing positions on these terns...long, elegant and powerful wings.

Arctic Loon

Arctic Loon

Only the second record of this species in San Luis Obispo County and this guy showed up on the first day of our annual Winter Bird Festival here in Morro Bay.
Generally known to breed in Eurasia (and areas in western Alaska), spends winters at sea, and is considered a vagrant as far as Pakistan...this is a well-traveled bird.
