Upcoming China showCalligraphy ink. Tea. Red ink. A stamp of my Chinese name, given to me by Missy's grandfather. Though I'm not sure of the Pinyin spelling, it sounds like "guh li ni," and means "pretty girl." The stamp itself, which is stone and has a dragon carved on top. My Mao lighter, which has a green flame. When you open it, it plays a communist song. My Chinese artisan tea pot, which is sculpted to look like bark and gnarled wood, with little decorative monkeys and forest animals hidden in nooks and crannies of the clay. You'd think a Chairman Mao lighter would have a nice red flame. ![]() ![]() I'm working hard on my show, which will be in Birmingham in a few weeks. If you're unable to make the reception (there will be food!), the show will be up and the gallery open throughout the month of November. Many of the images in the show haven't been published online.
