Very nice Peter. I have taken the liberty of geotagging it! This view is now down the Ann St. Mall. The Wintergarden cinema has a lovely ceiling, see; www.flickr.com/photos/ogcodes/132693546/in/se t-1506035/

Thanks Michael for geotagging it, I have to learn how to do this or somebody else like you do it for me, I am a lazy b.....d ! LOL.
I just wait of a new shot from the same position of a Brisbane Bloke, thanks in advance.

John, the tram runs in Albert St. not in Queen St. I always looked there for cables, -- note -- thats the one.
I just wait of a new shot from the same position of a Brisbane Bloke, thanks in advance.

No, no
Trams never ran in Albert St. Albert St was an East - West Street. Started Ann St to Botanical Gardens
Queen St was main street for trams to South Brisbane over the Victoria Bridge. As mentioned above, there is a tram in photo in Queen Street down at Edward Street. Tram lines can be seen in latest photo as much clearer.
Over next few days I will photograph to show what the corner looks like today.
Major tunneling work on that corner at present.

Thanks John. I have another question:
My Satellite shot I made is he turned in the right way? In Google Earth I located the --Wintergarden -- if he is placed on the wrong side, my shot is not correct, I turned it until it was about as Queen St. runs.

If you make a new shot from there, please make one of the City Hall. Now I will have a look in GE from where I too my shot, but the photo is already in my OZ set, I saw in GE that the -Cupola - that round big construction dind,t exist in 1959.

West , north/west corner of King George Square. I guess King George Square didn't exist that time, I get cars there not a park/square.

Hi Pizzo
That Satelite question is above my head.
I have some photos of Brisbane City Hall in my Photostream.
Not sure of year as was away from area for 26 years in Defence Force but back in the 1950-60s Albert Street ran in front of City Hall then going into Roma Street and the Fruit and Vege markets. Maybe in the 1970s they made what was Albert Street, in front of City Hall one side and shops picture theatre the other side, into King George Square by removing the road between Ann Street and Adelaide Street and raising to a park about 10 feet high. The shops and picture theatre also become part of King George Square..
Today, most of King George Square is under construction in this park as underground construction is part of a new large tunnel network being constructed under the city. When completed there will be a new King George Square of some many million of dollars to be constructed.
it is hard to photo the City Hall at present beacause of works plant on site. Later I will upload some photos of about 12 months old that will show the old King George square. I an 1000 photos behind to look at. At present Albert Street starts at Ann Street, then from Queen Street to Elizabeth is a Mall and the runs from Elizabeth Street to Alice Street.
