THE Ring

Newer Older

finally got engaged!!! almost three years after getting married but psh! whatever!... it takes time to find the perfect ring (and... um, money) and this was it. i've never been a fan of the "engagement ring" persay. i never really got the appeal of diamonds... how can something so precious represent marriage? it seems false to me to offer a token to symbolize what isn't so. marriage isn't flawless and love is far from perfectly crafted... it's a combination of beauty and extreme hardship: a balance of darkness and light, truth and secrets, pleasure and pain.

this ring i thought, beyond its beauty captures what it REALLY means to get married... to make a commitment to another person while staying true to yourself.

(cognac diamond merged with black onyx surrounded by little diamond babies)

Very cool - the whole diamond thing is too cliche, which is why I want a sapphire. I've been married 4 years and still don't have my engagement ring.

I'm not a big "ring fan", but HOLY CRAP this is the coolest thing I've ever seen.

I got my MIL's engagement ring. Round solitaire, 2-1/2 carats in platinum setting. It's beautiful, but it's a hand-me-down. I want a ring picked out with my husband for me.
    I'm gonna work on it.

I just finished your book, and cried at the proposal. I had to see the ring, which you described so beautifully. I love it, love you guys, love your words! Congrats!
