What's better than pajama time?

New elephant pajama time!! Yes I like my PJs on the big side. What with having blown out the crotches of all but TWO pairs of PJs and then Silvia and then Elspeth making themselves new PJs, I finally found the time to whip some up for myself.

I used a blown out pair to make a pattern piece, used 1/2-inch seams and then zigzagged the seam allowances to cut down on ravelling, topstitched the inner seams.

Luckily I had some 3/4" elastic in my bin and I actually just measured it against the elastic from the old pair since that bit wasn't really all that worn out / just a little relaxed.

Making a PJ pattern

Making a PJ pattern

Sometime in the past year or so, I blew out the crotches of all but TWO pairs of PJs. I think the ripped out ones were all bought around the same time, so I guess it makes sense / and two of them had been repaired once already.

I cut them straight up what remained of the side and crotch seams (rather than rip those out) but then I did take the time to rip out the hem and the waist so I could see what types of seams had been used on those (and decide if I wanted to use the same ones). That's why you see seam allowances drawn on the sides and not the top/bottom.

Starting from the middle out.

Using a variegated pink thread.

copied the idea for the quilting diagonals from these two awesome quilts (one, two). mine aren't as even or regular as those but I pretty much 100% love it anyway! :)

just blindstitching the binding down left to go!!

OMGOMGOMG Look at my new tunisian crochet cowl from Lauren!!!

OMGOMGOMG Look at my new tunisian crochet cowl from Lauren!!!

So a very very very very long-XXX time ago, I got a tiny bit into spinning and I got a couple spindles I supermuch loved that were the perfect weight for me and I spun up some random fiber I bought...at Rhinebeck? Or Maryland? Or somewhere.

And then I had these few tiny skeins of random pinks. (One dark, one light, one I had plied together of dark and light.) And they sat and sat and annoyed and taunted me. And one day I said Hey Lauren here's some handspun, DO SOMETHING WITH IT.

And then one day recently she tweeted "hey I made something with that handspun" and I was all "Cool, LEMME SEE" and nothing. I kept waiting. nothing.

Then she showed up at Cookie Swap 2012 with a lil gift for me OMG check it out. Is Tunisian crochet not the coolest thing ever???? One side looks like knitted stockinette and one side looks like knitted rib and she made it into a moebius and I never ever ever want to take it off.

Thanks, Lauren!!!
