by my Dad ~ Toronto Beaches 1960

I just received this picture from my Father, who is scanning old negatives and slides.
He writes, "Here is a slide I took 52 years ago this month. It is at The Beaches showing the old shoreline with its rotting wooden supports for the piers. In the background is the water treatment plant. There was no Tommy Thompson Park or even a marina. The boardwalk of course ended at the washrooms/change rooms, which are still there at the foot of Woodbine Ave. . . . I belonged to the Scarborough Teachers' Photographic Club. This was entered in a showing and won honourable mention."
My mom remembers the piers and the pilings. She said, as kids, they would swim around the posts, which were covered in green slime.
