la belle province necklace
The necklace I created for the Journee de la Culture. The design is loosely base don teh fleur de lis and all the stones used can be found in Quebec.
The gr5een stars are Gaspeite, aqua rondelles are Amazonite, cream to brandy facetted rondelles are Hessonite Garnet and the gorgeous focal piece is a wonderful mineral specimen of Eudyalite.
I used both sterling silver and copper in this and I even varied the oxidization from shiny to a deep pewter color with a couple of tones in the middle. The clasp was also made by me. The disks were cut for me by my lovely Bird lady at mmemagpie.com/boutique/en/. I hammered, oxidized and polished them.
I really thought this piece would be an art piece only, but it's actually wearable and far sturdier than it looks.
This piece too me almost 8 hours to complete and it's my first hammered piece...:)
