I am very sorry. France was definitely superior to Italy... another penalty kick definition which doesn´t reflect what happened during the match, imo. Reminds me of something... =´(

Congratulations to Italy for taking the cup. Congratulations France for making such a great display of how to play with excellence this game.

Being the best or better than the rival is not always enough to win. It´s OK, that´s how things are. I am happy with what Argentina and France showed in the field.

Italy was of course a great team too, that´s out of discussion. I just belierve that having seen the game, the french were better. But that´s not enough.

I liked the closing wth the fireworks after the game, and I also like how the french coach, Raymond Domenech, stayed in the field during the italian celebration. A great gesture of honor and respect.

and I am very sorry for Zidane. =S

THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING THE PARTY. I think that we shouldn´t forget the essencial side of this celebration. I am not into soccer, however this year as never before -perhaps and probably for the international community of friends I belong to =) - I liked to be part of it and enjoyed the competition and the celebration.

During all this time I refected upon this and what has been discussed on patriotism and such... and I thanked that people were painting their faces and screaming out the countries´ names, whether crying for winning or for losing a soccer match and not doing the same for having won or lost a war.

I prefer to feel eager for my country to win a sport match than feeling earger for my country to win a war. I preffer this "faux" or light patriotism to the other "serious" or "real" one. I can feel proud that my country wins a game, but I will never feel proud that my country is envolved in a war -despite reasons, there can never be "reasons", I personally don´t justify violence-.

I hope that in with the years to come, these expressions of patriotism and wishes for one´s country to win something over another or be the best and etc, will eventually be only possible at a stadium.

I liked that in this celebration, in Germany, the motto was "Say no to Racism". SAY NO TO RACISM.

Thank you all who have joined and enjoyed the celebration in a healthy and playful spirit.

    Indeed, Trajan.

@hugo above: Sorry, i saw your question before I ddin´t reply. Yes, hugo, it´s a portrait on a mirror which I post edited (one copy remained as background and then I put another copy over and did on this one some cropping of the face and added color to each part and put all back together, etc) =)

it is clear that Italia played a very beautiful final, that the public was for Italy much more than for France, that again roughs boys wins... moreover, the evening was arbitrated by Argentina which thus, was indeed IN THE FINAL !!!.
the first goal of zidane was marked whereas I was in the subway: it had to be seen how information was roaming from station to station, from coach to coach, mouth with ear, from portable telephone to the next portable telephone, the grannies, the papis, and all the little children. it was beautiful, it was blue.
and then I returned at home. by the window I see my Portuguese caretaker who makes me a sign of the inch: “good” but whereas I light my TV, Italian equalizes. it was obvious that they were going to take us along to the shooting to the goal. the stage was heated with the red braises… the cock was going to be made roast. even Jacques chirac made the mug, until one does to him sign of smiling. ah yes, where is the camera already? and there, any rocker. I realize that they have one 23 on the ground, frightening these Italian. the 23 kills the 10, everyone knows that… I also realize that zinedine mark his 31° goal at the 7th minute. I was born one 31/7… chapeau zizou! there was spot of pub on spot of pub, with an astronomical peak of audience after the expulsion of zizou on red paperboard. the blue ones won. the old ones retire.

  31. TheAlieness GiselaGiardino²³ (83 months ago | reply)

I am veeeery sorry for Zidane. Materazzi definitely has no honor to wear the #23 in his jersey.

I am happy Z was given the Golden Ball anyway. A man can´t be judged just by one action having had an incredible career. Least when his action was in response to a serious insult he was receiving as it has been known so far.

mostro, groso vos! El gusto fue mio. Gracias por ser parte. Fue una linda fiesta! :D

Thank you Matt for passing by! Glad you liked the paintd faces´ series. It was fun to make the two (and would have made more!) ;)

ZZ apologize on french TV for all the childrens that could be hurt seing his violent reaction, and said that clearly this is an illustration of what they do not have to do.

  35. Golden puppy (83 months ago | reply)

I would like to know what our idol Armando Maradona thinks about all that!!! number 10, never hurt anyone....I'll ask him when he comes back to Napoli next time:-)

  36. bc2 [deleted] (83 months ago | reply)

    be my guest -_-

  37. TheAlieness GiselaGiardino²³ (83 months ago | reply)

Maradona is not a happy example to bring to this discussion... a guy who was face of campaigns against drugs and left his fortune on them. (And i have nothing against Diego, I just say that he is no role model at all. He was just a excellent soccer player. Period)

Btw, he can´t step on Italy for the problems with taxes he and/or his ex manager have with Napoli if I remember rightly. =S

I saw Zidane on TV with Michael today... I still say that I am sorry for him because what materiazzi must have said has to have been as gross as ZZ´s reaction. No person reacts like that unless being driven crazy. And the italians are well known for this in the field. Again, to me, Materazzi is a dishonor to the #23 community. He should be banned to wear that number on his jersey. >=(

  38. sgrazied (83 months ago | reply)

Materazzi is great!!! he's a defender who scored 2 goals in a world cup and doesn't fear anyone... and if zidane cannot resist to his aggressivity that's not an italian problem! soccer is a male game, provocations are part of it!

  39. Golden puppy (83 months ago | reply)

Yes, Materazzi is great and Italy are world champions!!!

Gisela, I'm surprised!! You are putting Italian footballers on a trial and offending them, including Maradona,a great champion who has never hurt anyone!!!!

Is this the way to celebrate France?? Offending, posing as a moralist and justifying Zidane's violent attack ??
By the way, aren't you a pacifist????

Yet I even complimented you for your cool shot and I have respected everyone here and ..in my real life!

  40. TheAlieness GiselaGiardino²³ (83 months ago | reply)

I am not offending anyone. I am just giving an opinion on what I see, an opinion so valid and ocassionally offending as yours.

By the way Maradona is Argentinian and not italian. And it is Italy who has problems why him and taxes, not me. Have you heard that when he was travelling to Germany for the World cup he was stopped with the italian police and they took his two watches away to make him "pay" with what he had for the taxes he owes to Italy? And do you think that *I* am the one having a problem with Diego?

I am not offending anyone. Neither I am defending Zidane. I am giving an opinion on what I saw. And saying that I am offending Materazzi is a bit... silly. Hope you don´t find that offending

On ther hand, if anything I say "offends" you, please receive my apologises and you are welcome to leave this page as we are in my album, and firstly I have the right to say whatever I please. Mainly because I am definitely NOT offending anyone.

I have not been on the field to defend ZZ or to attack Materazzi, but neither you been there. So, given this, no-one can be offending anyone and we are all saying what we think.

I repeat, you are welcome to leave if you think I am "offending" somebody. If you knew me a second you would probably re-think what you are saying. I am not an offender.

  41. bc2 [deleted] (83 months ago | reply)

hey, let me know something, materazzi ? he has a "23" tatoo on the arm ?? anyway, the trend is very high for zz. materazzi was just a trigger.
