A reward from Sir Donald Knuth

A reward from Sir Donald Knuth by G0SUB.
I received this cheque from Sir Donald for sending in 4 corrections in his seminal work, ``The Art of Computer Programming''.

4 corrections, thus a cheque of 4 hexadecimal dollars.

Many thanks to Vihan for receiving the cheque on my behalf and sending it over to me.

i think you got 4 hex dollars per correction... 100 in hex is 64, times 4 is 256 per correction, times 4 is 1024 total

I thought Knuth's $0.01 reward doubled with each new bug, so this would have been the 11th bug. Or was that for TeX?

I have one of those. I remember reading about them at University and went straight to the library to track down some bugs - I only found two, though.

@jeff.emminger: no, a "hexadecimal dollar" as defined by Knuth is 0x100 cents, or $2.56.

@turnet@rogers.com:

It looks to me like there is a blanked-out area at the bottom of the image where there would usually be an account number and stuff. So, I suspect it wouldn't be possible to forge the cheque just from this image.

I'll give you $100... No wait. Don't cash it, don't sell it. Keep it. Use it as a bookmark in a book you won't accidentally sell or give away. Later if it seems even cooler, get it framed.

So what were the 4 errata that you got paid for?

The small numbers above the date field should be erased, too. The first line is usually a representation of the bank routing number (which can also be looked up from the bank name) and the second line is the account number.
