Jax-before and after Topaz Adjust

Jax-before and after Topaz Adjust by gholmes.
Followed Topaz Adjust where it took me and arrived at this version of my Granddaughter. I have worked laboriously in the past to obtain this same effect, now Topaz has made it easy. Of course I still have to tweak it a bit myself, nothing is totally automatic.

I have been "LEARNING" Adobe Photoshop since version 3, which I still have a copy of.

Why would you try to make her look like the after? The before is beautiful IMO the after is scary looking.

Because I am a Photographer and also work on a computer. These are exercises that one tries out to see what one can make of photographs.

I think it is awesome what one can do with photography on the computer! The boundaries are limitless and it takes a creative side.

we photographers, have it good today. The used of the computer to create different style images, is what we all try to do. Keep up the good work, we are always looking for that different look.

I use to do all my own processing of film, printing, etc. In those days it took a large amount of time and effort to do anything to an image post-processing wise. There was/is one photographer (whose url is www.uelsmann.net/) that based his whole career on this type of an image.

To the purists I say throw away your polarizers, ultra-violet filters, soft focus filter, color balancing filters, various effects filters such as gradient types, fog effect, etc. Oh yeah lets not leave out cross processing or toning of B/W prints.

Should you go overboard on computer effects just because they are available?

It doesn't matter if you have a computer or not. It doesn't matter which camera. Think about the result and why you want it to look the way it does.

I'm sorry, but I think your before photo looked just fine. :)
