View from my pier cabin

View from my pier cabin

There is a State Park in SC called Santee State Park, which features 12 cabins all built into 2 piers. It was just awesome, coming home to my house on the lake for a few days back in November. Step outside my front door, and this is what you saw. I can't rule out a return visit someday, even though it is kind of in the middle of nowhere, and I've never gotten into fishing.

See Rock City

See Rock City

I didn't post many shots from there, the daylight hours were quite dreadful for outdoor photography. But I went to work on this one determined to salvage it. Just too much awesome granite to go to waste.

The edge of Lookout Mountain

The edge of Lookout Mountain

I love the lack of fencing or rails, God bless them for that. Even if it is paved and all. From Point Park, the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park.

Tennessee River

Tennessee River

Welcome to the wonderful city of Chattanooga, the most pedestrian friendly city I have ever visited. This was taken from the middle of the Tennessee River on the pedestrian bridge that is part of the Tennessee Riverpark. Spend a day walking some of the over 30 miles of paths, piers, and other walkways made of concrete, dirt, cobblestones, or even glass! Its pretty different to be walking on a pane of glass several stories above the street below, let me tell ya.

I really can't think of many better destinations than Chattanooga, and I was the first one to be totally shocked at how beautiful everything is and how you could spend a week there and never have a dull moment. (Well, there and Lookout Mountain overlooking the city. That was the real destination I had in mind.) So much to see and do, and most of it wasn't even open for the season yet. Wish we had gone a couple months later, but that was the way things worked out.
