Frazier Discovery TrailLoft Mountain, SNP. Sorry I haven't been around much the past few weeks. I've had a prolonged bout with a respiratory illness that quite near brought me to my knees, and haven't had the urge to do much of anything other than make it through the day. Plus, I hit a deer last week, and my ride is a bit banged up; so combined with the super cold and park closings, there doesn't look to be much opportunity to get out anytime soon. So I'm a bit bummed. Warmer days and a repaired vehicle can't get here soon enough.

A Special PlaceThis mountaintop was just one of those places where you get a wonderful feeling to just be there, alive, right now in this place. Its the peak of Bearfence Mountain; and quite a climb to reach, over the length of a most jagged ridge. I couldn't help but linger here for quite a while.

Spruce Knob LakeA side trip from Spruce Knob, since I was there already. I didn't walk too far. It was late, I was hungry, my feet and pants were wet, and I had a lot of miles yet to drive back into Virginia.
