Added the tags. Thanks for the suggestion. The photo was taken from the eastern bank of the river (from one of the "stellings" or wharves, in the Georgetown port area), so the boat is actually heading downriver (away from the river mouth) not towards the river mouth as my original caption said. So the land mass in the background is the western river bank.

Thanks for the view. My mother was born in Georgetown and I remember hearing about Demerara. I did not know a river was by that name, too.
