I am pretty sure the photographer is Dr. Ludwik Silberstein.
He was a native of Warsaw, educated in Cracow, Heidelberg, and Berlin. He lectured on "Natural Philosophy" in Rome until 1920. From 1912 to 1920, he also held a position with the Research Department of Adam Hilger, Ltd. a London firm known for high quality optical work, like quartz spectrometers for physics and chemist researchers. In 1920, he moved to the Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester N.Y. where he worked until his death in 1948. He is famous for an early book that helped spread Einstein’s theory of special relativity, The Theory of Relativity published in 1914. The woman appears to be the same as the one entitled woman in blue dress sits near fireplace?

I agree with Lilorfnannie.

I spent quite a bit of time studying the pattern on the chair. I was about to suggest it myself, but noticed her post. It's called "Woman and boy sitting in chair."

I wonder if the woman and the boy were members of Dr. Silberstein's family.

As ever with the Autochrome process, there is a lovely soft quality - almost like an impressionist painting. It's amazing to think such glorious colour prints were being produced only 20 odd years after the invention of photography

Precioso retrato. Es una buena época para la fotografía. ¿A quien mira el personaje? A un fotógrafo que ya no existe o a nosotros que aún no estábamos allí..
Es el misterio del retrato, la belleza que desafía al tiempo.
