Thirty-six Spots _4757

I chanced upon a mass hatching of these moths today. There must have been between 50 and a hundred in a small area about 25 feet by 6 feet. Many of them were mating - some just out of their chrysalis.

 

There were six of them on this thistle-head (one round the back - count the antennae middle-left).
