Yes, I'm still working Leidig Meadow... As I wrote earlier, I love the low autumn backlight and early November colors of trees and meadow at this location in Yosemite Valley. In fact I shot here on both afternoons during my visit on October 31 and November 1. Here the trees are roughly sidelight by light coming up the canyon from the west, and the light is aleady gone from the tall cliffs across the Valley and just to the west of Yosemite Falls.

The angle of the granite walls is strong as well, is this the base of ElCap?

Dave, it sure could suggest El Cap with that large expanse of granite but I believe this is the base of what is called "Columbia Rock." It is located to the west (left as you face it) of Yosemite Falls. Leidig Meadow is near the Yosemite Chapel along Southside Drive, extending to the west of the chapel and across the Merced River from the "new trail" to Yosemite Falls. It is a short walk from the parking lot where people seem to leave their cars to photograph Half Dome from Sentinel Bridge.
