Timing is everything in Steer Restling. Over three days we watched riders literally bite the dust as their quarry suddenly veered, or stopped. Sometimes the steer just went too fast, and sometimes the steer simply refused to flip over on its side. All of it over in seconds. I watched to see how the animals fared -- none injured. The humans generally did OK, if that designation includes one groin pull and some limping. Unlike the roping events, you end up without a horse at the end of this one -- jard tp maintain your cool walking.
