Excellent photo and we’d love to have it added to: Democrats Unite www.flickr.com/groups/democrats_unite/ and any other photo that fits the scope of our group.

      Thanks

      Excellent photo.
I would be interested in how you made the photograph, why you were there, what was it like making photographs in the '60's?
I love the details that you can see what people were wearing, and their expressions.
      Great job.

Dr. King spoke at a civil rights rally at the San Francisco Cow Palace and I was communications director for one of the sponsoring organizations, the Northern California Council of Churches. I was seated far stage right on the platform and was allowed to move about photographing. The camera was a film camera, probably using Kodak Tri-X film and the available light. The beam of light is not 'photoshopped'. As the long evening wore on, the humidity in the vast hall increased and I could see the beam appearing. I got up and took the last frames of a 36 frame roll of 35mm film.

      Thanks!
With digital effects so much is possible, but it is great to see an amazing image that was constrained by time and technology and the ability of a photographer to focus in the moment.
You might consider adding this image to these two groups:
      www.flickr.com/groups/flickrtoday/
      www.flickr.com/groups/npr_pictureshow/
      Again, great job!
